Steven Layton Tarr

It is with profound sorrow and joyful celebration of a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Steven Layton "PapPap" Tarr, who entered eternal rest on June 21, 2025. Surrounded by the love of his devoted wife of 50 years, Pamela May Tarr, Steve passed peacefully at home, welcomed into the arms of his Savior.

Born on November 11, 1954, in Richmond, MO, Steve was the son of Carolyn (Stigall) and Forrest Tarr. From an early age, Steve had a positive spirit, hard work ethic, and had fun with life. A proud 1973 graduate of Richmond High School, Steve's journey led him to the love of his life, Pamela May Clevenger, in 1974. They united in marriage on June 7, 1975, and recently celebrated their golden 50th anniversary, a testament to their enduring love. Together, they built a legacy of faith and family, raising three beloved children and delighting in the joy of their many grandchildren. Steve often stated, "Family is everything," and his unconditional love touched every family member, near and far.

Steve dedicated 46 years of service to MODOT, exemplifying commitment and integrity. He also served honorably in the National Guard for six years. Known for his unwavering faith, Steve lived to glorify God, serving passionately through his church and Bikers for Christ he was known as "Blank". Even during his final trip just days before his passing, Steve shared small Jesus figurines with countless individuals, spreading the Gospel with every heartfelt gesture. His life was a powerful witness to God's love. He was an ordained Deacon and a licensed minister. He had been a member of the Union Baptist Church of Norborne since 1974.

A devoted husband, father, "PapPap," brother, uncle, and friend, Steve's kindness, infectious laughter, and relentless optimism left a mark on all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pam Tarr; his cherished children, Scott Tarr (Elizabeth), Brian Tarr (Lindy), and Roxanne Pearson (David); and his adored grandchildren, Nicolas Lamb, Jared Tarr, Aidan Churchwell, Harlea Brill (Jordan), Jordyn Tarr, Macy Tarr, Cohen Pearson, and Reid Pearson. He is also survived by his brothers, Cliffton Tarr (Sandy), David Tarr (Donna), and brothers-in-law, Buddy Clevenger (Sharon) and Wayne Clevenger (Terri), and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Carolyn Tarr, and two precious grandsons, Owen Pearson and Henry Pearson.

Steve's legacy of faith, love, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He faced life with unshakable optimism, often sharing, "Every day I wake up is a great day, and the day I don't wake up is a wonderful day because I am with the Lord." As we mourn his absence, we rejoice in his eternal home with Christ.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Norborne. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Braymer. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer.
