Steven Malcolm Thompson, of
Knoxville, Tennessee, was born on February 26, 1949, in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, and stepped into eternity on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Steven was the beloved son of Thomas Nelson Thompson and Dorothy Leona Thompson (Dobbs). He lived a life marked by dedication, strength, and quiet faith, serving his family and his community with integrity and commitment.
A gifted mechanic and engineer, Steven worked at the TVA Sequoyah Nuclear Plant and later served as a civilian Lead Operating Engineer at Arnold Air Force Base, supporting the mission of the United States Air Force through his technical expertise. His work reflected precision, reliability, and a strong work ethic- qualities that carried through every area of his life.
Above all, Steven cherished his family. He was a devoted father, proud grandfather, and joyful great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Melisa Thompson of
Knoxville, Tennessee, and his son, Steven (Kimberly) Thompson of Manchester, Tennessee.
He leaves behind eight treasured grandchildren: Joel Morgan; Jenna (Blake) Thomas; Kara Reed Thompson; Makaya Thompson; Jackson Thompson; Braelynn Thompson; Madeleine Thompson; and Ellowyn Thompson. His legacy continues through three great-grandchildren: Carter Reed Alexander, Landon Cornejo, and Rowan Lane Thompson, each of whom brought him great pride and joy.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Nelson Thompson and Dorothy Leona Thompson (Dobbs), and by his brother, Guy Thomas Thompson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Vicki Thompson.
Steven was deeply connected to his church family at Harvest Christian Fellowship, where he was lovingly known as "Pops." A faithful servant, he volunteered in several areas of outreach ministry, giving generously of his time and heart. He was surrounded by many close friends who cherished him and shared life with him. He held a special bond with Pastor Robert Paige and Sharon Farruggia-Paige, who were dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church, located at 2505 Washington Pike,
Knoxville, TN 37917. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:30 PM, with Pastor Sharon Farruggia-Paige officiating. Words of remembrance and prayer will be offered by Rev. Londa Richardson. Immediately following the service, family and friends will process to Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 3:00 PM Graveside Service.

Steven's life leaves a lasting testimony of faithfulness, humility, and love. He had a sweet disposition and created a lifetime of fun memories for so many. Though he will be deeply missed, his family and friends rest in the assurance that he now abides in everlasting presence of God.
