Steven Alan Updike, 70, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, May 16th, 2025, after a brief illness.
Steve was born on March 30, 1955, to parents Stanley Hubert and Betty Lou (Leachman) Updike. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lynn (Reese) Updike; daughter Megan (Jose) Rael; son Alan (Sarah) Updike; Son Justin (Victoria) Updike and Son-in-law Tom Gozelinchick. He is preceeded in death by His daughter Amy (Tom) Gozelinchick.
He is also survived by mother, Betty Updike; grandchildren: Dylan Gozelinchick, Christian, Juliana, Noah, and Nicolas Rael; Owen, Calli, Blake and Nolan Updike; and Savannah Brockway; sister, Sandra (Michael) Gallagher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to His daughter Amy, Steve is preceded in death by his father Stanley Updike and sister Susankay Updike Cowgill.
Steve was recently retired from Rexel as an automation Engineer. He also worked at S. G. Morris, Reliance Electric and TRW.
Steve was a man of many talents which he used to rehab homes and fix anything mechanical. He loved woodworking and gardening. He was happiest when he was busy with a project. Steve could always be depended on to be there to help with any problem. He will be deeply missed by all his loved ones.
A celebration of life/visitation will take place on Sunday June 8th at the BPOE Elks Club, 723 Liberty Street, Painesville Ohio. Family will receive friends, family, neighbors and coworkers from 2:00 – 4:00PM.
The family encourages anyone who knew and loved Steve to join them during this time to share stories and memories and offer their condolences. Written letters or short paragraphs of your memories of Steve would be especially appreciated as they will be compiled into a notebook of memories that will become a keepsake To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Steven, please visit our Tree Store.
