Jolyon Bixler Obituary
Jon is survived by his devoted wife, Hilary; his daughters, Heather and Megan; and his cherished grandchildren, Bixler and Miles.
Jon is an alumnus of Allegheny College, and embarked on a career in journalism, eventually becoming an esteemed editor at The Plain Dealer Newspaper before his well-earned retirement in 2001. Colleagues revered him for his sharp mind, his fairness, and his unwavering commitment to the truth.
In his personal life, Jon was known for his athletic prowess. He participated in Cleveland area and Lake County road races from the 1970s through 2012, inspiring many with his determination and vitality. His competitive spirit found another outlet as he competed in USATF Masters Outdoor Track meets. As a member of the Over the Hill Track Club from 2005-2012, he honed his athletic abilities and fostered camaraderie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to honor Jon's memory consider making a donation in his name to the Alzheimer's Association.
