Steven Alan Viste, age 58, of Audubon, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.
He was born on June 13, 1965, in Slayton, MN to Orlan “Lee” and Kathleen (Krueger) Viste. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1983. Steve married Carol Hanson on October 7, 1989. He attended Vermillion Community College in Ely, MN earning an associate degree in criminal justice in 1989. He began his Law Enforcement career in Frazee, transitioned to Callaway police chief, and in 1996 joined the Becker County Sheriff's Office where he served until his retirement in 2021.
An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, leeching, snowmobiling, and six-wheeler adventures. Steve was an excellent cook who enjoyed watching food channels for inspiration. Steve was strong-willed with an enormous heart, quick wit, and a great sense of humor. He undoubtably treasured the time he spent with family and friends.
Steven will be greatly missed by his mother, Kathleen Viste; his brothers, Jeff (Julie) and Scott (Paulette); his nieces, Ashley (Josh) Simmons and Melissa Viste; and his nephew, Matthew Viste; his significant other, Paula; and many family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orlan Viste.
