Steven West Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 8, 2025.
STEVEN WEST, age 68. Steve was a dedicated father to his daughter, Deanna, often setting the bar for what a father–daughter relationship could be. His commitment to friends and family was always surrounded by moments of laughter, earning him the nickname "Smiley."

He found joy in many places throughout his life. One main staple was that of his time at Rolling Y Ranch riding horses with his brother Brian and later teaching his daughter. Another great passion was skiing, carving down the slopes of Holiday Valley, Whistler, and Winter Park, always chasing fireworks in the snow.

Steve's soul was like a sunset - vibrant, steady, and warm. It was common to find him at Whiskey Island on the shore of Lake Erie, a beer in hand, watching the sky fade into color.

He was a man who chased thrills, cherished and searched for joy, and whose candor made many say he was simply "one of the good ones."
Steve will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the world around us - in a sunset, the first snowfall, a bluebird day, or the sound of laughter shared among friends. A father, brother, and friend to many, may we honor him by carrying his smile forward, remembering the good times, remembering to laugh at ourselves and by living each day with the same laughter and warmth he gave so freely.
