Funeral Service for Steven Lance Wheatley will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 12, 2024, at First Christian Church, with Rev. Josh Puckett officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home.
Steven was born on August 14, 1973, in Dallas, TX, to Herman and Barbara Wheatley. He passed away on August 8, 2024, at the age of 50.
Steven found joy in farming and fishing, passions that shaped his character and brought him closer to nature. Steven never hesitated to lend a helping hand and had a knack for making genuine connections with everyone he met. His kind heart and easy demeanor made it seem as though he had known you for a lifetime upon first meeting.
Family was paramount to Steven, and he treasured every moment spent with loved ones, creating countless memories that will be cherished forever. He was a dedicated father who loved his children deeply.
Steven is preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman and Cassie Wheatley, and Lula Mae and Joe Brown. He is survived by his children, Sage Wheatley Mitchell and husband Dillon, Tate Wheatley and wife Meghan, and Stetson Wheatley; grandchildren, Cooper Mitchell, Harper Mitchell, and Myles Wheatley; parents, Herman and Barbara Wheatley; siblings, Suzanne Wheatley, Shanna Wheatley Kidd and husband Wesley, Scott Wheatley and wife Heather; nieces and nephews, Sierra O'Brien and husband Cooper, Cass Wheatley, Caris Wheatley, Colin Wheatley, Ellie Kidd and Sean Kidd, and many close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Steven’s much-beloved nephew, Sean, to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
