Steven R. White
Washington Court House, Ohio – 1950–2025
Steven R. White, a proud Marine, lifelong jokester, and loving husband to Rose, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Adena Fayette in Washington C.H., leaving behind a legacy full of stories, laughter, and love.
Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on May 11, 1950, Steve graduated from Minford High School in 1968. Shortly after, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. He carried the spirit of a Marine throughout his life-resilient, strong-willed, and always ready with a sharp comeback.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Chris White, and his brothers, Jim and Randy White and stepson Mark Vincent Canizares.
Steve survives by his children: Angie Meadows Culver of West Portsmouth, OH; April (Dean) Bryant of Wurtland, KY; and Brian (Amy) White of
Washington Court House, OH. He is also survived by his stepchildren: John Russel, Fatima May Ann, Bryan Angelo, Mary Rose Ann, and Matt Cedi Canizares of the Philippines. He loved each of them deeply-even when life made relationships complicated, his love never wavered.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jordan Bryant, Emily Walker, Luke and Landon White, Erica Culver, Courtney Culver, and Sierra Grooms; step-grandchildren Cody and Conner Jones; and 21 grandchildren from the Philippines. He was blessed with great-grandchildren Benjamin and Lily Walker, Kylie Journey, Deegan and Brynn Grooms, and Kennedy Latta.
In 2017, Steve said he found the love of his life when he met Rosemarie. She was not only his partner, but his caregiver, confidant, and rock. Her love and devotion brought comfort, stability, and happiness to his final years, and his family will be forever grateful for her unwavering support.
Steve enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing in his younger years. He had a sharp sense of humor that could light up a room-or catch you off guard. He loved to laugh and make others laugh, and he was never one to miss an opportunity for a joke or a good story. His grin usually meant he was about to say something wildly inappropriate or hilarious-or both. He endured many challenges in life that could have brought others down, but he remained upbeat and in good spirits through it all.
Steve's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor John Pfeifer of the Gathering Place Church officiating. Burial to follow in the Washington Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Fayette County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may visit the family on Friday, the evening before the service, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home.
