Steven Wuerdeman Obituary
Franklin - Steven "Apple" Keith Wuerdeman, 66, of Franklin, KS, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 14, 1954, the son of Vernon L. and Patricia (Plumlee) Wuerdeman.
Mr. Wuerdeman worked as a millwright at many different power plants in many states before his retirement.
Membership was held in the Zion Lutheran Church, Pittsburg. He also belonged to the Millwright Union. He helped many people and loved making others laugh and smile.
Mr. Wuerdeman is survived by his mother, Pat of Pittsburg, brother, Ron Wuerdeman of Girard, and two nephews, Nick and Justin Wuerdeman.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon.
A service for Mr. Wuerdeman is set for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Pittsburg with Reverend Theodore Cook officiating. The service will be live streamed through Mr. Wuerdeman's obituary page on the Brenner Mortuary web page. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, to sign the register book. The family suggests memorials to the Zion Lutheran Church. Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.

Apple was my friend and I will say that until my last breath! I met him a little over a year ago and most of my days afterward were spent there," out in the shop". We worked on many different projects and had plans for so many more. He told so many funny stories, some repeated, and all with a good lesson to them. He taught me many things, mainly, step back and try for another way to see a solution. He did suffer, from trying to do what he was used to doing. It frustrated him to have limitations. Many times we'd take a break that would be the end of our day, and I'd go back out to do a little more, instead of going home. I'd get the riot act if I got caught though, haha! I'm going to miss my friend! There are several projects we had planned I'm going to give all I can to finish, in his honor in the high standard of workmanship that he held himself to. Fly high my friend, where the track is smooth and everything runs right! No more pain, no more stress and no more limits! I'll see ya someday, I'll always say you were my friend!
