Steven Randall Young was born October 7, 1962 in Evansville to Samuel and Shirley Young.
Surviving are his children, Christy Gail Johnston, James Ray Young, Amanda MarieYoung. His grandchildren, Maliki Johnston, Treyvon Johnston, Davian Johnston, Kaiya Cullum, Amarah Cullum, Omari Little, Raiden Little, Ricardo Little Jr., Avery Jones, and Peyton Young, sisters Sheryl Young Moore (Robert Moore), Surtana Young Patten, his partner Carla Weller along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in his death are his parents, Samuel and Shirley (Johnson) Young, his son Steven Jacob Young, his brother Samuel (Boe) Young Jr and his brother-in-law Leroy Patten.
Steven's infectious laughter and genuine interest in the well-being of others made every gathering brighter, every encounter more meaningful. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the vastness of the outdoor, cherishing every moment under the open sky, every breath of fresh air and every sunrise or sunset.
Steven proudly served his country as an Army veteran, embodying the virtues of courage and commitment. His post-military life as a carpenter and construction worker showcased his dedication to building not just structures, but also relationships and communities. His hands, strong and sure, were always extended in help and friendship, weaving a network of bonds that stood as firmly as the edifices he erected.
He lived with the same fervor with which he approached his work, immersing himself in the world of sports. Baseball, softball, and football were not just hobbies for Steven; they were extensions of his passionate soul. His love for animals was equally evident, especially for his loyal dog, Sissy, who was a constant companion in his outdoor adventures. Fishing rods in hand, surrounded by the serenity of nature, Steven found solace and joy in the simple act of casting a line into the water, waiting for the next big catch.
