Steven "Uncle Mo" Zaidel
January 6, 1963 - October 20, 2025
Steven "Uncle Mo" Zaidel, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 20, 2025, at DePaul Hospital.
He is survived by his loving parents, Henry and Rose Zaidel; his devoted wife of nearly 30 years, Jane (Vohsen) Zaidel; and their beloved son, Nicholas Manuel. He is also survived by his Uncle Paul and Aunt Jane Lipa, Uncle Marty and Aunt Pat Martinsky, as well as the extended Zaidel and Lipa families and their spouses.
Steve will be dearly missed by his cousins Kathy and Bruce Edmonds, Chris and Zena Zaidell, and by many nieces and nephews on Jane's side, including Brittany and Tom Lyons, Shannon and Johnny Chapman, Sarah Schulte, Jack Schulte and Madison Mielke, Julie and Patrick Boyce, and James and Kelsy Vohsen. He also cherished their children-Landon, Elena, Alexander, Faith, Maria, Charlotte, Anna, Johnny Jr., and Caroline-each of whom brought him great joy.
Born on January 6, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, to Henry and Rose Zaidel, Steve graduated from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering. He married Jane Vohsen on November 17, 1995, and together they adopted their cherished son, Nicholas Manuel, on September 28, 1999, in Medellín, Colombia.
Steve celebrated 40 years with Boeing this past June. In 1996, he relocated to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a Navy Special Project program. Steve and Jane became active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church and School in Richardson, Texas, where Nicholas attended for many years.
A passionate sports fan, Steve remained loyal to his hometown Detroit and University of Michigan teams-Go Blue, No Green! He also loved discovering new craft beers with his good friend Chris Verhelle, amassing over 2,000 tastings across the country.
Steve will be remembered for his intelligence, humor, dedication, and deep love for his family and friends.
Visitation: Wednesday, October 29, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral Home, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., St. Charles, MO 63304
