Stuart F. Glasby, 82, went home to be with the Lord on July 08, 2025, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 19, 1942.
Stuart's life was marked by a distinguished career in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve from 1965 to 1994, retiring at the rank of Commander. His time aboard the U.S.S. America during the Vietnam War as an Air Command Intelligence Officer in the Tonkin Gulf, and later at Willow Grove Naval Air Station, exemplified his commitment and valor.
Beyond his military service, Stuart was a successful manufacturer's representative, specializing in engineered fasteners and related products for over four decades. Together with his wife, Colleen, and brother, Herb, he also co-founded a thriving sales agency.
Stuart was a graduate of Episcopal Academy and Ursinus College, class of 1965. His academic background and military experiences fueled his lifelong passions for history, technology, and world affairs. Fluent in French, he was an avid reader and took a keen interest in U.S. railroads and global events.
A devoted family man, Stuart is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Colleen M. Glasby, his sons Stuart F. Glasby Jr. (Catherine) and John A. Glasby (Diane), step-children Jodie McKeith, Colleen McCardell, (Paul) Donna Germon, and Bruce McKeith; brother Herbert S. Glasby, sister-in-law Marion K. Glasby, sister-in-law Carleen Erhardt, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert S. and Elizabeth Stuart Glasby.
Stuart was also a longtime member of Proclamation Presbyterian Church in Bryn Mawr, PA, where he enjoyed his time in choir and small group Bible study.
His hobbies included a deep love for model railroading. Stuart created elaborate G scale train layouts, dedicating countless hours to designing, building, and maintaining his miniature railroads. Stuart's life was a testament to his love for his family, his country, and his community, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and service. His memory will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating Stuart's life will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 10 AM at Proclamation Presbyterian Church, 278 S. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010.
