Stuart Gilmore Gust passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 13th, 2025, at the age of 57.
He was born to James and Ruth (Gregerson) Gust on Oct. 3, 1968, in Greenbush, MN. He grew up and lived in the Benwood community in rural Strathcona. He was sixth in line amongst his siblings, Jason, Rapheal, Jim Jr., Ramona, Steven, Rick and Jeremy. He was always a comical character who enjoyed making you laugh and giving you some guff.
Stuart went to school in Greenbush and from there he helped his Dad on the farm and in the woods. He worked various jobs throughout the years including cutting zip lines with Wesley Pesek in Wisconsin, working at Polaris, Arctic Cat, Intercept and Central Boiler. He also worked for his brothers, Jason and Jim, with their grain farming, and also was a great help to Jim with his cattle farm. He worked for the Forst family during corn harvest.
Stuart dated Lori Wold and together they have a son, Kyle Stuart Gust, who was born on January 11, 1995. Kyle recently married Brittany, and with this union Stuart became a step-grandpa to Brittany's son, Cameron Schmidt.
Stuart was very skilled at hunting and trapping and thoroughly enjoyed it. This created many adventures with family. He could always be seen trapping gophers in the summer. He always planted a garden and picked many varieties of berries. He loved the outdoors. He took good care of his mom, taking her to doctor appointments, shopping, and rides around the country. He always had a heart for the older generation and enjoyed visiting with them and hearing their stories.
Stuart is survived by his son, Kyle (Brittany) Gust, Cloquet; step-grandchild, Cameron Schmidt, Cloquet; mother, Ruth Gust, Strathcona. Siblings, Jason (Carol)Gust, Strathcona; Rapheal Gust, TRF; James Jr. (Pam) Gust, Badger; Ramona (Dale) Johnston, Strathcona; Steven (Missy) Gust, Strathcona; Richard (Becky) Gust, Strathcona; Jeremy Gust, Strathcona. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and good friend, Jon Dostal. He is preceded in death by his father, James Gust, Sr; sister-in-law, Honi (Jeremy) Gust; grandparents, John and Georgianna(Svoboda) Gust and Gilmore and Alice (Gunderson) Gregerson.
The Stuart sized hole in our hearts will forever change our lives. He will be deeply missed. Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you will realize they were the big things. Tell your loved ones that you love them because you never know if it's the last time.
Pastor Dave sent us this verse: Psalm 34:18 â€sThe Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed."
