Sue A. Berry, 50, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at her home in Kennewick, Washington. She was born December 20, 1971, to Oliver Weichel and Dorothy Hughes. Sue grew up in Roslyn, Washington and graduated from Easton High School.
After graduating from high school, Sue traveled around America eventually settling in New Jersey. She was married first to Ken Burkhart and then to Ted Berry. During this time, she focused much of her time as a homemaker, raising two strong daughters, Michelle and Jennifer.
In 2013, Sue made a fresh start in life and moved to the Tri-Cities (Washington). Her return to her favorite state allowed her to be surrounded once again with the love and support of friends and family. Then, in 2016, Sue graduated from Columbia Basin College with an Associate degree and earned her phlebotomy license. She put her career as a phlebotomist on hold so that she could help raise her grandchildren, Mallory and Matthew, who were the light of her life.
As a loving and dedicated grandmother, Sue imparted her sense of adventure and her thrill for life to her grandchildren. She was passionate about her hobbies and enjoyed spending time baking, coloring rocks, and geocaching – and countless other activities with her grandchildren, daughters, and friends. She would often have Classic Country and "80s" music playing in the background as she worked on her cooking and crafts.
Sue was an active member of the community and was generous with her time as a volunteer for local events and the Red Cross, and as a fundraiser, including running in the Relay for Life. She was a kind soul and never hesitated when the call came to help those in need. Her optimism was pure, honest, and heartfelt and it was evident in all that she did. Despite the challenges that exist in the world, Sue looked toward the beauty and wonder around her and focused on the positive.
Sue is survived by her brother, Henry; daughters, Michelle and Jennifer; and grandchildren, Mallory and Matthew. She was preceded in death in the last year by her mother, Dorothy Hughes, and father, Oliver Weichel.
Sue will forever be missed by those who love her; our hearts are broken by the loss of such a beautiful soul. Sue was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
You are invited to leave a photo and/or memory about Sue so that she may live on through in these treasured memories. Sue would not want us to mourn her passing but to celebrate the life that she lived. When you think of Sue, think of her passion for life and love of family. In leu of flowers or a donation we ask that you do a random act of kindness for someone. Any correspondences please send to her daughter Jennifer Berry-Burkhart at 1310 S. Date Pl.
