A Memorial Visitation for Sue Burrell, age 80, of Chambers will be from 2-5 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a Celebration of Life Service at 5:00 pm. Pastor Sarah Gill will officiate. Sue passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Accura Healthcare in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.
Glennda Sue Watkins Burrell was born at Pratt, Kansas on December 7, 1944 the third of eight children to David and Eleanor (Mease) Watkins. Sue was named Glennda in honor of her Uncle Glenn Watkins who was in the service due to being born on the 3rd Anniversary of Pearl Harbor.
Sue started grade school at Sharon Kansas and graduated high school from Nashville Kansas, class of 1962. She continued her education at Pittsburgh State Teachers College in Pittsburgh Kansas then Graduated from Wichita State University in Wichita Kansas with a BS in Elementary Education in 1966.
Sue met Foster Burrell in the summer of 1966 when he was working with her brothers on a wheat harvest crew in Kansas. They married on December 30, 1966 at the Methodist Church in Chambers Nebraska. To this union, two children were born, Brenda and Vincent.
The couple lived in Wichita Kansas and Atkinson Nebraska before making their home in Chambers Nebraska. Sue touched many lives as a teacher of 41 years. She taught one year of Third Grade at Isley Elementary in Wichita Kansas then taught at Chambers Public Schools from 1969 to 2009 in Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade.
Due to Parkinson's Sue retired in 2009. Sue and Foster enjoyed spending time with their grandkids at sporting events and festivals. Sue loved playing cards and games, doing puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. She made many new friends during her time in care facilities since 2018. A special thank you to the staffs of Country Lane Retirement Village, Good Samaritan Society and Arbor Care/Accura Healthcare for their care of Sue.
Sue is survived by her two children, Brenda (Al) Walnofer and Vincent (Denise) Burrell all of Chambers NE; nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, Ben (Debra) Walnofer and children Reid and Reese; Luke (Cheri) Walnofer and daughters Willow and Autumn; Alexandrya Burrell and Connor Saner and children, Neveah, Sylus, Xander, Caydyn, Athene and Dezi; Peter (Kadi) Walnofer and children, Sage, Walker and Bridger; John(Jessika) Walnofer and children, Liam, Charlotte, Noa and Rory; Chyenne (Eddy) DuPree and children, Elliot, Kayne and Arlo; Schyler Burrell; BrookLynn Burrell and Brandon Coombs and son Beckett; Mary Walnofer; three brothers, David(Laurie) Watkins, Bill (Jill) Watkins and Richard (Carol) Watkins ; three sisters Judy Holmes, Linda(Kenny) Hageman and Sarah (Ted) Gill ; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Roy Watkins and brother-in-law Mike Holmes.
