Sue K. Coffaro, 73, of West Ellicott, passed away Wednesday July 2, 2025, in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 10, 1951, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Harold and Phillis Lovejoy. She graduated JHS in 1971, and after a brief period in LA, returned to Jamestown where she met her husband, Bruce Coffaro, whom she married in 1988. Together they raised two children, Sara and Daniel.
Sue dedicated her life to rescuing animals. Saving and improving countless lives both animal and human. To this end she worked as an animal cruelty officer and founded the non-profit new leash on life. She also ran her own business menagerie pet grooming.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please contact Daniel at [email protected] to get more information.

Thank you Sue for many happy memories with my german shepherd dog who you paired with me and also the happiness you gave my mom for pairing her with her dog also. knowing you briefly there must be a lot of thankful people who you've helped through the years. you had as many people skills as you did animal skills. i'm sad to hear of your passing but i know you will enjoy now seeing a lot of pets who have gone before you. you're dedication to strays and to your community will really be missed. sheila johnson

I am so very sad to learn of Sue's passing. I enjoyed many Wed night painting classes at Helen Gilbert's with her and her sweet "Emmie". Sue was talented, kind, fun and also very funny with a huge heart for heart for all animals. Sue was a treasure. My sincere condolences, Connie Hunt
