Sue Etten Obituary
Sue Van Etten, age 48, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, after courageously battling cancer. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Sue's warmth and resilience touched the lives of all who knew her.
Sue was the beloved wife of Richard, with whom she shared 30 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a family rooted in love and laughter. She was the cherished mother of Chelsi (Keigan) Coryell and Richie Van Etten and the proud grandmother of Jaxton and Braiden. Sue was the treasured daughter of Susan Bennett and cared for by Kenneth Freeman and the dear sister of John, JR, and Kimberly.
Family was at the heart of Sue's life, and she delighted in weekend getaways to Frankenmuth and other family trips. Among her fondest memories was a family vacation to Myrtle Beach, where she and Richard renewed their wedding vows.
Sue had a deep appreciation for nature, especially her flower garden, which her children lovingly created as a Mother's Day gift one year. Sunflowers were her favorite, reflecting the brightness she brought to the world even during her battle with illness.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from shopping and summer BBQs to baking delicious treats for her loved ones. Her banana bread, apple cake, and pineapple upside-down cake were legendary and her Christmastime perogies will long be remembered as a sweet reminder of her talent and care.
Sue's home was made even more special by the companionship of the pets she adored, completing the warm, loving environment she created for her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer, Sue's favorite season, when her family and friends can gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she lived.
Sue's unwavering strength, vibrant spirit, and generous heart will live on in the countless lives she touched. Though cancer may have taken her from us, it could never diminish the love and legacy she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered always.
