Sue Gullett, age 77, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025. Born on November 16, 1948, Sue grew up in Southwest Detroit, where her warm, spirited personality began to shine. It was in that same neighborhood that she met the love of her life, Ronald Gullett. The two married on February 13, 1969, and shared a happy, devoted marriage until his passing in 2001. Their life together was marked by deep love, laughter, and countless memories that shaped their growing family.
Sue was known by all dear to her as “Mama Sue.” She was the cherished mother of Leslie (Myron) Seever, Beth Ann (Clark) Rumsey, and the late Ronald Lee Gullett. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to many great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy. She was also a beloved sister to Eddie, Diane, Sherri, and the late Wally, Brenda, and Randy. Her extended family—including nieces, nephews, and cousins—held a special place in her heart.
Among those who loved her was her loyal dog Harley, her “boy,” who never left her side. Their daily routines, shared snacks, and unspoken bond were a source of comfort and companionship. The family all knew that Harley would guard his mama if they got too close. “Don’t go messin’ with Mom.”
Mama Sue was known for her honesty and straightforward nature—if she had something to say, she said it. She was a simple, genuine, family-loving woman with a good sense of humor and a knack for joking around. Taking care of her family was always her greatest purpose and pride.
She also enjoyed life’s fun and familiar comforts. Sue loved trips to the casino, playing bingo, and trying her luck with the lottery—especially her beloved Triples. She never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune or The Price Is Right, and she adored Hallmark Channel Christmas movies and fairy-tale love stories. In quiet moments, she could be found playing pool and poker games on her phone or enjoying her morning coffee—always with six scoops of sugar and cream.
“Mama Sue” leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and simplicity of living. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her humor, and her unwavering loyalty to the people she loved most. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband, her son, and her siblings who went before her. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 4:30 p.m. until time of service at Solosy Funeral Home.
Memorial Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
