Susan "Sue" Marie was born January 30, 1952 in
Cedarburg, WI the daughter of Norman and Catherine (Dietzler) Pancheri. She grew up in the area, graduating from Cedarburg High School. On August 30, 1980 Sue married Loren J. Hofler and the couple was blessed with three children: Sarah, Dustin and Andrea. The family made their home in Iowa and after the children were in school, Sue began working at the Rockford High School, where she would stay for 23 years. In 2002, Loren preceded her in death. On November 11, 2005, she married Maritz Nel and two families were united. The couple made their home in Nora Springs.
Sue enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Time camping, fishing and enjoying the outdoors brought her joy. She could out fish just about anyone, and had a great time doing it. Sue could often be found working on her many planters, flower patches and garden. She looked forward to spending time with her "crafting crew" and shared their many pieces of handmade work with those they loved. Day trips to various antique shops around the area were treasured. Sue was lovingly known as "Momma Bear" and looked protectively over those she loved. She was known to savor a good glass of Winking Owl wine, but only on days that ended in a "Y". Sue's greatest joy was becoming a grandmother, gaining three extra children and even more grandchildren. Her joyful, loving, stubborn nature will leave a lasting impression on those who loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Maritz Nel of Nora Springs; children, Sarah (Derek) Jacobsen of Nora Springs, Dustin Hofler of Nora Springs and Andrea (Curt) Wahlert of Adel; Maritz's children, Manie (Elmarie) Nel of Clarion, Martin (Angie) Nel of Ames and Mark (Angie) Nel of Nora Springs; beloved grandchildren, Kaden and Dawson Jacobsen, Hadlee, Hayden and Lauren Hofler, Emalyn and MJ Nel, Grant Warict and Braxton Nel, and Aubrie and Mikey Nel; as well as extended family and numerous friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents; first husband, Loren; and a sister, Judith (Robert) Lecher.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses of St. Croix Hospice. Your dedication and care of Sue mean more than words can express. Thank you.
