Sue Howard Obituary

Mrs. Sue (Pierce) Howard of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Albany, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at The Willows at Hamburg in Lexington, Kentucky, having attained the age of 95 years, 5 months and 2 days. She was born in Albany, Kentucky on Friday, September 5, 1930, the daughter of Frank & Mary Denton (Hickman) Pierce. She devoted many years of service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky, advocating for special needs adoption and even testifying before Congress to bring greater attention and support to the cause. At home, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life - playing cards with her family, reading a good book, and crocheting. She also enjoyed spending her afternoons playing video games, particularly on the original Nintendo, where Metroid, Mario, and especially Zelda were among her favorites. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Melvin Howard Sr.; son, Kenneth Melvin Howard Jr.

She is survived by her children, Frank Bernard Howard of Jacksonville, Florida, Sharon Howard of Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Scott Howard, Brent Howard, Matt Brown; great-grandchildren, Sarah Howard, and Jake Howard.

The funeral service was conducted on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 2:00 pm C.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home with Bro. Joshua Steele officiating. Burial was in the Albany Cemetery, in Albany, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Scott Howard, Matthew Brown, Brent Howard, Joe Howard, Kenneth Brown, and Joshua Steele.

In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to the Bluegrass Care Navigators, www.bgcarenav.org/give, 1733 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, KY 40504.
