Sue Ann (Theisen) Last, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 29, 1951, in Port Washington, Wisconsin, Sue grew up in nearby Belgium and carried the warmth of her Midwestern roots with her throughout her life. She was a longtime resident of Washington Township, Michigan.

Sue is survived by her devoted husband, Dan Last, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage filled with love, companionship, and adventure. She was the proud mother of Lisa (Dean) Volungis of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kelly (Todd) Korabik of Paw Paw, Michigan. She was also the adored grandmother of Izzy and Isaiah Korabik, who brought her endless happiness and joy.

Sue was the daughter of the late Doris and Elmer Theisen. She was the cherished sister of Kay Kleckner, and was preceded in death by her brother Bob Theisen, her brother-in-law John Kleckner, and her sister-in-law Agnes Theisen.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Education, Sue dedicated her career to teaching, specializing in elementary special education. She had a remarkable gift for recognizing and nurturing the unique strengths in every child, touching countless young lives. After retiring from education, she continued sharing her warmth and work ethic through her time at Westview Orchards, where she enjoyed connecting with visitors in the winery and market.

Sue lived her life with curiosity, adventure, and an open heart. She loved to travel and especially loved scuba diving trips, exploring underwater worlds with fascination and joy. She and Dan shared many unforgettable miles traveling the world on Dan’s motorcycle, often riding with dear friends and taking in the beauty of the open road together. At home, some of her happiest moments were spent doing jigsaw puzzles with her beloved grandkids, creating memories piece by piece.

Caring for others was the thread that ran through Sue’s life. She and her family were long-time volunteers with Great Lakes Burn Camp, where she offered compassion, support, and joy to children who needed it most. Whether as a mother, grandmother, friend, teacher, or volunteer, Sue was known for her extraordinary kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering selflessness. She always put others before herself, offering comfort and warmth without hesitation. Her family was her pride, her joy, and the center of her world.

Those who knew Sue will remember her for her kindness, generosity, and quiet strength—for the way she made people feel seen, supported, and truly cared for. Her lessons in love, patience, and compassion will continue to guide those she leaves behind.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be planned for a future date, with details to be shared with family and friends. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her giving spirit, memorial contributions in Sue’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Great Lakes Burn Camp.

Sue will be deeply missed for her warm presence, her adventurous spirit, and her nurturing heart. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
