Sue (Way) Olmstead, 84, of West Hill Rd., passed away, Saturday August 31, 2024, at the Waterville Residential Care Center. She was born September 11, 1939, in Oneida, a daughter of the late Bill and LoVisa (Ford) Way. A lifelong area resident, Sue was a 1957 graduate of Oriskany Falls High School. On September 14, 1957, in Waterville she married Stewart Olmstead. Sue worked for Utica Mutual Insurance Co. for a brief time, before making a decision to stay home and raise her family. Sue later returned to work at Colgate University in food service until her retirement.
Surviving is her husband. Stewart; two sons, Jeff (Audrey) Olmstead of Rome, Jim Olmstead of New York City; grandchildren, Matt (Jess) Olmstead, Chris (Amanda) Olmstead, Mike Olmstead (Brooke Staelens), Lou Olmstead (Kari Rose); great grand children, Owen, Nora, Savannah, Lilly, Cooper, and Hatcher; siblings, Cathy Way of Utica, and Pam (Bob) King of Oriskany Falls.
She was pre-deceased by her parents and grandparents, Ray and Alice Ford whom she shared a special relationship with.
In keeping with Sue's wishes, service and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
