Sue E. Roach

Sue Ellen Roach, 88, of Glasford, formerly of East Peoria, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Carle Health Pekin Hospital. She was born on December 21, 1936, in Peoria, the only child of Byard and Burndette (Brunson) Wineinger. She married her husband of 66 years, Arthur E. Roach on August 21, 1954, in Rockford; he preceded her in death on June 24, 2021.
Surviving are her children, Gary (Kari) Roach of Hobart, IN and Kelli (John) Janssen of Glasford; grandchildren, Kyle (Anne) Smith of St. Louis, MO, Nikki (Josh) Waite of Peoria, Brittney (Tim) Krieg of Valparaiso, IN, Wayland (Jessica) Roach of Crown Point, IN, and Grayce (Luke) Daurer of Chesterton, IN; and 8 great grandchildren, Ben, Ava, Walter, Juliana, Ellie, Penelope, Cooper, and Quincy.
Sue graduated from EPCHS in 1954. She worked at Caterpillar in East Peoria as a telephone operator before transferring to Mossville and becoming a Plant Layout Coordinator. After retiring from Caterpillar, she stayed active working as treasurer of Lake Camelot HOA and as treasurer for Hamptons Cove HOA. In between, she and Art traveled to as many "ball games" as they could for their grandchildren and great-grands. They were always extremely supportive of their family!
Sue loved to cook family style for gatherings. Her biscuits with sausage gravy were epic, and her chicken and noodles and corn casserole will be passed along for generations. She loved her family and the St. Louis Cardinals, quilts, red roses, Ralph Lauren clothing, and her Cadillacs. Her dogs Josh, Abbey, and Molly were also very special and dear to her.
The family would like to thank Villas of Hollybrook in Bellevue, Pekin Manor and Carle Health Pekin Hospital ER and ICU Departments for taking such good care of Sue these past several months.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Gary Deiters Funeral Home & Cremation Services in East Peoria, with a Graveside Service to follow at St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery in Glasford. Please wear red to honor Sue.
