Sue O. Suk, 89, went to be with the LORD on Thursday, August 1, 2024. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She was born August 5, 1934 in Seoul, South Korea, to Eung Chang Whang and Chang Shin Lee. She was persecuted for her faith in Jesus during the Korean War. After the war she received a degree from Ewha Womans University and taught in elementary school. Her first job was to teach first-grade to 100 students.
God gifted her with a beautiful voice and she met in the church choir her future husband, Peter, who was a seminary student. His greatest dream was to attend seminary in the United States. They married in 1955; had a daughter, Grace, in 1956; and God miraculously provided the funds for Peter to come in 1962 to Dallas Theological Seminary. In 1963, God again provided a way for Sue and her daughter to join Peter. After grieving the loss of eight miscarriages, their son, Mark, was born in 1968, truly miraculous gift from God!
Transitioning to a new life in a foreign country had many challenges, but she never lost her faith in God. She served alongside her husband in many American and Korean churches throughout Texas and California over their 64 years together. She had the gift of hospitality and everyone she met felt so welcomed and loved. Her husband would preach the Word of God and she would share the love of Christ by serving and caring for others.
Her family looks forward to the heavenly, reunion celebration. She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Suk. She is survived by her daughter, Grace Chuckray (James); and son, Mark Suk (Hyejon); grandsons, Stephen Chuckray (Kim), Mark Suk, Jr. and Matthew Suk; granddaughter, Laura Chuckray (Andrew Carlson); great-granddaughter, Lucy Chuckray and great-grandson, Henry Chuckray.
