Sue Thomason, 94, of Carmi passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi. She was born in Christopher, IL on January 30, 1931 the daughter of Rolla and Lillie Mae (Eldridge) Sims. Sue married William "Bill" Thomason on August 7, 1949 and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1986. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi, where she was involved with 55 and Alive and had helped with past Vacation Bible Schools. Sue was quite the artist and enjoyed painting, especially in oil and pastels, and drawing. She also enjoyed reading, camping and being involved with the Red Hatters.
Sue is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Mary Thomason of Goreville, IL and Brian and Rebecca Thomason of Castle Pines, CO; five grandchildren, Shelda (Garrett) Wingo, Greg Thomason, Beth (Eli) Gingrich, Sarah (Angel) Thomason and Jessica (Cory) Craig; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a niece, Deborah Roth and a nephew, Michael Roth. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, a son, William Thomason on February 4, 2000 and a sister, Doris Jean Roth.
Funeral services for Sue Thomason, 94, of Carmi will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Drake Caudell officiating. Burial will be in Elder S. M. Williams Chapel Cemetery near Ewing, IL. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Sue's memory to the First Baptist Church in Carmi and will be accepted at the funeral home or by mail to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821
