Sue Camille Griffin Venator was born in Monroe on Dec. 16, 1923 to Lewis and Mattie Griffin and passed away after a short illness on June 10, 2023. At her passing, she was surrounded by her loving son, Glen, daughters Betty and Susan, and beloved Karen Solomon. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Vern in 1978, as well as her mother, father, and son Griff.
As called by her loving husband, she was known as “Susy” to her family. Survivors include her sister Fern Belton, sister-in-law Joyce Griffin, son Glen, as well as daughters Susan and Betty. Grandchildren include Patrick and Christopher Goode, Melissa Venator, loving daughters-in-law, Debby Venator and Karen Solomon, son-in-law Pat Goode, and devoted niece, Deby Hesler. She leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Jonah and Nathan Goode, along with a host of nieces, nephews, many dear friends and family.
Mrs. Venator lived in Monroe. She attended NLSC and USL. At age 20 she married Vern Keith Venator and started her life as a loving wife and later a mother.
She was an educator who held a lifetime Louisiana teaching certificate. She taught American history and civics at Wossman High School from which both her son Glen and daughter Susan graduated. Sue enjoyed competitive bridge and quilting. Some of the most beloved heirlooms are quilts she made and gave to her children.
Always with a positive attitude and encouragement to all, she will be deeply missed by her family and those blessed to know her.
The family is deeply grateful to the staff and workers at the Guest House who work tirelessly with compassion and love to care for their residents.
A memorial service is will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 22, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA, with Rev. Keith Roberts officiating.

Ms Sue was the first person mY Mom meet 5 years again
in the Guest House. She was very supportive with all
her friends and I will miss seeing her with those cute
little feet up and down the hall. I was blessed seeing
and visiting with her over the years. Ms Hintons daughter Freida
