It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sumintra Ramoutar at the age of 85. Sumintra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Sumintra was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad to Ramdeen and Jugnoo Singh. She was the eldest of nine children, having 6 sisters and 2 brothers. She married Sookdeo Ramoutar in 1958, and together they built a wonderful life filled with lots of love and laughter. They were blessed with five children- Maria, David, Allan, Robin, and Indy. Through her example, Sumintra instilled in her children the values of hard work, perseverance, and generosity, always encouraging them to be kind, thoughtful, and compassionate.
Sumintra and her family moved to New York before moving to Lake Mary, Florida where she spent the last 23 years of her life surrounded by her loved ones. Each and everyday she got to spend time with her family she viewed as a blessing. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with others.
As a grandmother to ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Sumintra's love knew no bounds. She had a special way of spoiling them with affection, hugs, and countless fun-filled moments. She enjoyed cooking for them, especially roti, and making them laugh. She always had a listening ear and was both a grandmother and a friend to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Sumintra's legacy will live on through the love she so freely gave to her family. She will be dearly missed, forever loved and never forgotten.
