Obituary of Susan Bomar
Susan Lynne (Walter) Bomar
September 12, 1950 – May 26, 2025
Susan Lynne Bomar of Denver, Colorado passed away on Monday May 26, 2025. She was 74 years old. Susan Walter and DeWayne Bomar were married on July 25,1987.
Sue grew up in Aurora, Colorado and was a lifelong member of Messiah Community (Lutheran) Church. Her strong faith was what kept her daily optimism in the face of incredible health challenges.
Sue completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 1972. She had a strong work ethic beginning with her first job at age 15 serving ice cream cones until her retirement from the commercial loan department at Key Bank in 2015. In her youth, Sue learned to play the piano, studied Latin and was an avid reader.
Sue loved to travel and visited Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, England, Ireland, France, Greece, Costa Rica, Anguilla, Grenada, the Panama Canal and Israel. She acquired a love of Mediterranean food from her vacation with sister Sallie to Israel!
Sue was generous with a strong desire to make the world a better place.
Sue had a deep love and compassion for animals and for many years she volunteered at Humane Colorado (formerly the Denver Dumb Friends League). She fostered animals at home and had a difficult time bringing them back for adoption!
Sue left us too soon.
Sue is survived by her husband DeWayne Bomar, sister DeeDee Shulman (Mark), nephews Zach Shulman (Dana), Cory Hahn, niece Becky Braketa (Tyler), three grandnephews Danny Shulman, Jake and Teddy Braketa and grandniece Zoe Shulman. Sue was preceded in death by her loving parents, Monnie and Don Walter and her best friend and sister Sallie Hahn.
May her memory be for a blessing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Humane Colorado (formerly Denver Dumb Friends League) or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service for Sue will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, meeting at Staging Area A at 1:45pm for service at 2 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W, Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236.
