Susan Boudreau Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blue Mountain Cremation Services - Longmont on Jan. 2, 2026.
Susan Boudreau passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, in Colorado. Born on December 27, 1939, in Providence, Rhode Island, Susan passed just three days shy of her 86th birthday. While her passing makes this holiday season bittersweet, her family finds comfort in the memory of a woman who lived a life defined by intellectual curiosity and a deep love for the arts.

A Life of Travel and Transition

Though Susan remained a New Englander at heart-having been raised in Rhode Island and Massachusetts-her life was a journey of many landscapes. After briefly attending the University of Chicago, she married James Boudreau and began a life that took her across the globe. Together, they raised their family in Oregon and California, as well as during formative periods abroad in Stuttgart, Germany, and Athens, Greece.

In the later chapters of her life, Susan settled in Colorado. It was here that she truly embraced the fiber arts, learning to spin her own yarn and becoming a beloved member of the Hover Manor community, where she formed many meaningful friendships.

Passions and Pursuits

Susan was a woman of disciplined habits and eclectic interests. She was known for:

The Arts: An accomplished classical pianist and a master of knitting, and spinning yarn.

Intellectual Life: An avid reader with a personal library that was her pride and joy. She held a particular fascination for history, genealogy, and spirituality.

Active Living: She found peace in the rhythm of swimming countless laps.

Community: She was a dedicated teacher of earthquake preparedness, always looking out for the safety of others.

A Heart for Nature and Family

Susan had a soft spot for all creatures, sharing her home over the years with cats, dogs, hamsters, fish, rats, and a particularly special guinea pig named Christmas. It was fitting that she passed on her favorite holiday, a season she cherished.

She leaves behind a rich legacy through her family, including her five children, fourteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her family will remember her whenever they smell fresh-baked banana bread or enjoy a handful of dried apricots.

"We take comfort in knowing she is at Peace."
