Obituary of Susan Marie Brewer
December 28, 1962 – October 4, 2025
Susan "Sue" Marie Brewer, 62, of South River, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at Hunterdon Medical Center, after complications due to lymphoma.
Born on December 28, 1962, in Summit, New Jersey, Sue was the beloved daughter of the late Harry F. Brewer and Margery M. Brewer. She grew up in Chatham Township and graduated from Chatham Township High School, Class of 1981.
For over 32 years, Sue was a dedicated member of the St. Peter's University Hospital family, where she worked as a Scheduler in the Antenatal Testing Unit. Through her expertise and compassion, she helped countless women-many facing high-risk pregnancies-achieve their dreams of bringing healthy babies into the world. Her coworkers and patients alike will remember her not only as a professional of remarkable dedication, but also as a friend whose kindness, humor, and humility made every day brighter.
Outside of her work, Sue's life was filled with simple joys and lifelong passions. She was an avid reader, finding peace and inspiration in the pages of her favorite books. A devoted fan of horse racing, Sue was a part-owner of several award-winning trotters and pacers that raced at Freehold Raceway and The Meadowlands during the 1980s-among them her favorites: Family Fun N, Scotch Notch A, Doyle, and Jasmarilla. Sue was also a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, known for cheering on her team through the good seasons and the rough ones
Sue will be lovingly remembered as a gentle, humble soul whose smile and good nature brought out the best in everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her brothers, Michael and his wife Carolyn, Richard, and Donald and his wife Misty; her sister, Beth White and her partner Marc Fenster; and her nephews, Eddie Brewer and Samuel Maiorano and his wife Natalie.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Harry F. and Margery M. Brewer.
Sue was entombed privately at the Immaculate Conception Mausoleum in Annandale NJ. A celebration of Sue's life will be held in July. Arrangements were under the care of Martin Funeral Home, Clinton NJ. To send condolences to the cemetery please visit www.martinfh.com.
Those who knew Sue best will forever remember her as a woman of quiet strength, compassion, and warmth. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched-through her work, her friendships, and the simple kindness that defined her every day.

Words cannot express the shock and sadness I feel. I was devastated to hear the sadden loss. Losing a dear friend, neighbor and colleague for 25 years in ATU is such a pain that cannot be described. I am heartbroken... Dearest Sue, the world is darker today from the loss of your light, your smile, your giggles. ATU is not the same without you. Grief is so very hard but our special memories help us cope. I will always remember your help, kindness and support. Thank you for showing me the shortest way to get home from work, for coming to pick me up in your little sedan in blizzard of 2003, for always sharing good books, our morning coffee and our birthday cakes. You are always in my heart. Love you forever, dear Sue. Rest in peace

I am so saddened by the passing of our dear colleague, Sue. She will be remembered for her gentle, sweet nature and the warm smile she always carried. Sue had a genuine kindness that touched everyone around her. She often took interest in my cakes, always encouraging me and asking about my next project. Her thoughtfulness, positivity, and caring spirit made a lasting impact on all of us. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered

Oh Brewer! My heart is so hurt to know of your passing. I have known you as a student( 26 yrs) and experienced the wholehearted wonderful person that you were. You were a wonderful and admirable person and a familiar voice and face for the ATU. I will miss our quirky and humorous conversations of everyday shenanigans...you always being there when I was going through hard times and appreciating your words and polite honest criticism and thoughts. I miss 2:00 coffee and the food critic analysis of Cafe 254! The pasta, meatballs and shrimp tacos were always the best choices . I have many books that you lent to me that will always cherish and hold onto. I always knew who to run to in need of a muscle cramp cure . You always were concerned and asked what my kids were up to and you were glad to hear. Brewer! You were one of a kind ! So thoughtful and appreciative of my humor! We would crack up over so many things ! I can´t believe you are gone Sue ... you will always be remembered and NEVER forgotten. I pray you weren´t burdened with pain too long. Rest easy Sue until we meet again...

I worked with Sue for the last 32 years. We spoke multiple times a day each day at work. Sue was not only a coworker to me she was my friend. When I was the manager Sue was a great help to me. I kept track of the staff using a large paper wall calendar. We would walk back and forth with this giant calendar to each other´s desk to make sure the schedule was set up properly. Sue was alway on top of the schedule making sure we weren´t overbooked. From the moment Sue came in the door, she would punch in and pop her head in my office to either give me a wave, a verbal,Hey Bud! Or she would come in and say we need to sit and go over the schedule today... she was always smiling. She had a great sense of humor. Sometimes, I would just go in and sit next to Brewer for a breather. We would sit side by side and talk, make some jokes , talk about what was going on in the world and office chatter. Many times Sue would call me at night with scheduling ideas and we would shoot the breeze about the day at work. Sue was an avid reader and one day I noticed that she and my dad both loved the same author, David Baldacci. So I told my dad and he would buy books, read them and send them to work with me for Sue. This went on for quite sometime. At one point,I had so many books in my car I wasn´t sure if they were going back to my dad or to work for Sue. They wouldn´t only read that author. My dad would give me other interesting books for Sue because he thought she might like them. And Sue would quickly read them and give me a brief report about the book and sometimes she would even tell me how she learned some interesting facts from the book . It was a fun time for me and my dad going back and forth with their book exchange.
I´m not sure how I will get past losing my pal Brew and I will miss seeing her smiling face everyday. Rest easy my friend! I am still trying to wrap my head around this devastating loss. I will miss you, bud!

Sue is someone who truly brightened my days. Our shared love of country pop music and current events always made for fascinating conversations and laughs. If she heard a new song on the car radio, she'd remember 1 or 2 key words of the chorus for me to look up the name of the song for us to all jam out! I'll forever think of her fondly anytime I use the word "facetious" or whenever I'm enjoying a nice glass of Pino Grigio in the sunshine down the shore <3

Getting to see Sue each day was something I truly cherished. Whether we were sharing current events, chatting about life, or simply enjoying a quiet moment, her presence brought comfort and joy to my workday. Sue had a way of making everyone feel welcome-her kindness, humor, and steady spirit were a gift to all of us.
I'll miss her deeply and feel so grateful for the time we spent side by side. My heart is with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

I was visiting home from Denver, and I went into the back yard to look at the garden that Sue had planted. The corn stalks were four inches tall and the weeds were ten. I went back up into the kitchen (Sue was about 8 years old), and I was scratching my head. Sue was having lunch, and I said "Uh...Sue...when was the last time you weeded your garden?" She started laughing and her mouthfull of milk was lost on her chin and her plate.

Sue, you were more than a co-worker and mentor, you were a friend. You saw I was nervous in my new role and took me under your wing to help me find my way. You were so sweet and kind and patient, I will miss you dearly. Rest easy my friend, and enjoy a glass of wine!
