Obituary of Laura Anne Rankin

November 25, 1969 – October 1, 2025

Laura Anne Rankin, 55, of Clinton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Orange Hospital on November 25, 1969, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Nancy Rankin.

Laura grew up in Maplewood, NJ. A 1987 graduate of Columbia High School, Laura devoted her life to caring for others, especially through her work as a childcare provider. She had a natural gift for nurturing, patience, and joy-qualities that left a lasting impression on the many children and families whose lives she touched.

Laura was a woman of deep compassion and curiosity, with a love for all animals, nature, movies and music. She found happiness in horseback riding, long walks outdoors, simple moments that reminded her of life's beauty.

She is survived by her loving brother, Robert J. Rankin Jr.; her devoted sister, Ruth Dufresne, and brother-in-law, Derek Dufresne; niece, Haley Wyser; nephew, Luke Dufresne; and niece, Julia Dufresne. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Nancy Rankin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 25th at 1:00 PM at Orphan Anni-mals, located at 71 Forge Hill Road in Glen Gardner NJ 08826, a place that reflects Laura's lifelong love for animals and her generous heart. Interment of Laura's ashes will be held on Friday, October 24 th at 4:00PM at Morrow Memorial Church in Maplewood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Orphan Anni-mal Rescue in her honor.

Laura's life was a testament to love, gentleness, and care-for children, for animals, and for all living things. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her.
