George S. Reiner, 90, of Springfield, NJ, passed away on October 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Memorial visiting hours will be held at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave. in Springfield on Saturday, October 11th from 11:00am to 1:00pm and again at Darby Road, 450 Park Ave, Scotch Plains, NJ from 1:30pm to 4:30pm for a celebration of life.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in South Orange, the son of Warren and Dorothea (Staehle) Reiner, George graduated from Columbia High School in 1953. He attended Washington & Lee University graduating in 1957. He lived in Roselle Park, Short Hills and Spring Lake Heights before moving closer to work in Springfield.
An insurance agent, George began his career with the Home Insurance Company in Newark, NJ before joining his father's insurance agency in 1959. George served as the Worshipful Master of the Franklin Mason Lodge in Irvington NJ, a bank director for Gibraltar Savings Bank and Chairman of the Board of the Marcus L Ward Home.
George spearheaded a major construction and renovation project at Winchester Gardens at Ward Homestead making it one of the premier retirement & assisted living facilities in the State. George loved working with his hands and building things. He and his friends built the office in Springfield NJ where the family business still thrives entering its 4th generation.
George was married to the late Audrey Reiner for (60) years. He was the loving father of Richard Reiner, Jack Reiner (Nancy), Katie Reiner and the late Dawn Reiner. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Stephanie, Morgan, Olivia, Ally, Evan, Ava, and Austin and his dear brother, Warren G Reiner, Jr..
In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.

I met George at The Delaney and his presence in Thursday fitness always added to the enjoyment of the classes. A true gentleman George would kiss my hand and I can still his voice ringing out "so good" in Sweet Caroline.
