Susan Bryant Obituary

Published by Legacy from Oct. 3 to Oct. 6, 2025.
Susan "Susie" Bryant, 79, of Proctor, MN, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, in Cloquet, MN, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living surrounded by her family. She was born in Carlton, MN, on March 23, 1946, to Leroy and Adelia Yndestad Baker. She grew up and attended school in Carlton and then spent most of her life living and raising her family in Proctor, MN.
Susie married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, James "Jim" Bryant, on January 30, 1965 at Bethesda Lutheran in Carlton, MN. Together they had three children, whom they shared a love for camping with. After their children were grown, Susie and Jim loved to travel. They would often go with friends and usually went places with warmer weather. Their favorite trips were to Hawaii and enjoying Caribbean cruises.
Susie was a homemaker until her children entered school. She then opened her own daycare and touched many lives. In 1987, she became a bank teller at the First National Bank of Proctor. She made many great friends and shared lots of laughs during co-worker outings. She retired in 2007 after working there for 20 years. She was also a member of a "Bridge Club" for many years and made many friendships with her "Bridge ladies."
Susie absolutely loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always made it to their various sporting events and activities to support them. She also cherished spending time with the many friends she made throughout her lifetime, including her lifelong friend Linda Brayden, who affectionately called her "Martha." She loved to have a good time with her family and friends.
Susie loved animals, but was especially fond of her dogs. She had many over her life and adored them greatly, including Tina, Misty, Ebony, Molly aka "Speck," and Pookie. She held a special place in her heart for her Shih Tzu named Baby. She enjoyed it when her many fur grandbabies came to visit her. One time while watching TV, she saw a commercial with a cute dog for the ASPCA and was drawn to sponsor them with a monthly donation for many years, even when money was tight. Susie was very heartfelt and a giving person to both animals and people.
She was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan and continued to watch them while donning purple and gold at Diamond Willow right up to her death.
After nearly 35 years of marriage, her husband, Jim, passed away in 2000. Life was never quite the same for Susie without him. Her kids and family take solace in the fact that they are together again forever.
We want to thank Diamond Willow-Cloquet and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care they provided during her last year of life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Adelia; her husband James "Jim"; and her many dogs.
She is survived by her children, Kelly (Jerry) Daveau of Cloquet, MN; Kris (Tara) of Proctor, MN; Kerry (Lisa) of Baldwin, WI. Grandchildren: Ashley (Brian), Courtnie (Brett), Haleigh (Jake), Dalton, Jimmy, Hope (Tristen), Alyssa (Billy), Karlyn (Brett), Loren, Jordan, and Kaden. Great-grandchildren: Sophia, Noah, Amelia, Mason, Holden, Hayden, Eden, Chase, Brooklyn, Harvey, Kinsley, and Macie. Sisters: Janice Beberg and Kathy (Dick) Bergman, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct.10, at 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM at the Cremation Society of Minnesota. A luncheon will take place immediately after the service. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Minnesota. Family suggests that those attending the service feel free to wear their favorite Minnesota Vikings apparel. Memorials preferred in Susie's memory to Animal Allies Humane Society, 4006 Airport Road, Duluth, MN 55811.
