Susan Bugbee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc. on Sep. 10, 2025.
Susan Jean Bugbee, 78, of Honesdale, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born on October 1, 1946, in Norwich, NY, Sue was the daughter of the late Roy and Doris (Thomas) Van Wagner. A dedicated and passionate teacher, Sue taught at Stourbridge and Lakeside Schools for 35 years before retiring. Her career was not just a profession; it was a deep-seated passion, and teaching was truly a large part of who she was.

Sue lived life on her own terms, with a strong spirit and a deep love for her family. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She poured her heart into making her house a cherished home, taking great joy in her beautiful flower gardens and the simple pleasure of bird watching.

Surviving are her sons, John (Sandy) Bugbee, Shortsville, NY, and Paul Joshua Bugbee, Carbondale; her daughters, Tara (Michael) Lent, Honesdale, and Emily (Michael) Dibert, Middletown, DE; her sister, Sally (Ward) Babcock, Sherburne, NY; and her brother-in-law, Thomas Eaves Jr., Lowville, NY: her sister-in-law Leonore (William) Mastrangelo, Utica NY.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cody Lent, McKayla (Jason) Doty, Dakota (Emma) Lent, McKenzie Bugbee, and Johnathan Bugbee; and great-grandchildren, Ruth Marlene Lent, Della, Charlotte, and Soren Doty; along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Nancy Eaves and her husband, David Gordon.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 25th at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale at 4 pm. The family will receive friends on Friday, 1 until the time of service.
