Susan M. Camera (Morann), age 70, of Old Saybrook, CT, died peacefully at home on June 14th, 2025, with her devoted husband, Salvatore, and her daughter, Ashley, by her bedside. Susan was born on October 9th, 1954, in New Haven, CT to Mary Toohey Morann and William Morann. She grew up in East Haven and went on to raise her family in the same town, until 2007, when she and Sal moved permanently to Old Saybrook. Besides her husband and daughter, Susan leaves behind her three sisters Kathleen Dornfeld (Billy), Nancy Morann Addario (John) and Karen Vanacore and her four brothers Billy Morann (Laura), John Morann, Kevin Morann (Kathy) and Chris Morann.
Susan was married to the love of her life, Salvatore, for 43 years (while dating another 10 years prior). He was undoubtedly her soulmate, and they had countless adventures together over the years which included raising their daughter, Ashley, spending time with family and friends, boating, traveling and building a home together that they loved. Susan loved being a mom more than anything in the world and Ashley can attest to how amazing she was at it. Their bond was like no other.
Susan also had a strong bond with her nieces and nephews as well as close friends whom she loved dearly. She was known for her huge heart and genuine care for others, her infectious laugh and sense of humor and her unwavering support for her family. Susan never missed out on an opportunity to celebrate, and she always made every holiday, birthday, and accomplishment feel important and of great value. She had a strong work ethic and belief system that could not be broken. Susan's ability to practice gratitude on a daily basis was greatly admired.
Throughout her life, Susan touched many lives through her generosity and kind spirit; she was simply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Although Susan's presence may no longer grace our lives in physical form, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday June 24th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Church, St. Pio Parish, 161 Main Street, Old Saybrook. Family and friends are welcome to attend to celebrate Susan's life. Please wear bright colors and outfits to honor her light and legacy.
