Susan enjoyed sports as well in high school. She would also be known as the neighborhood Tax Preparer growing up.

Later in life, Susan would become the Administrative Secretary for the Director of Nursing in Conroe, TX. She was also the Activity Director for the Senior Friends Group in Conroe. Susan was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Mary's, Senior Friends Group out of Conroe. Susan enjoyed Mardi Gras, casinos, feeding the birds; and owls, which she considered to be the protectors of her family. Susan also enjoyed writing poems for her children. One of the poems she wrote was titled "The Owl's Place".

Susan's love for her family knew no bounds, and she dedicated her life to caring for and nurturing her loved ones. Her gentle spirit and kind heart touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her loving children, Patrick Casarez and wife Shirley, Diane Adkison, James Casarez and wife Eva, Elaine Farrar, JoAnn Casarez, Carla Cole, Tina Price and husband Jesse, and Perry Casarez and wife Asheley. She leaves behind a legacy through her 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Susan is preceded in death by her husband, Calixto Casarez; and her parents, Jose Manuel Meza and Maria Cleofas Alvarado, along with her four sisters, and her four brothers.
