Susan Curlings Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 20, 2025.
Susan Boldt Curlings, 79, of Bessemer, Alabama passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025. Born in Maryland in 1946, she was the beloved daughter of the late John Henry and Lou Boldt.

Sue was a long-time resident of Virginia before moving to Alabama in 2019. While in Virginia, she was an active member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church and the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary. After moving to Alabama, she would often be the one checking on her neighbors and setting the tables for lunch every day. Sue had many titles throughout her life, but her greatest satisfaction was in her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Wayne Curlings, and son, Paul Andrew. Sue is survived by her sisters Nancy Jesswein (Tom) of Virginia, Debbie Sollars (Dale) of Maryland, her brother John Boldt (Mary) of Maryland, her sons, Scott (Shannon) of Alabama, and Jeremy of Virginia; as well as her beloved grandchildren Paul Jr. (Melissa), Alexander, Kenneth, and Charlotte.

A graveside service will be held at Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Hwy, Manassas, VA 20109, on August 19, 2025, at 12:00 pm. Both Susan and Ronald's interment will follow the service.

Anyone who has ever known Sue knew what a giving and kind-hearted person she was. She loved to give to multiple charities over the years, so in lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the charity of your choice in Sue's name.
