Susan Dashner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burbage Funeral Home - Berlin on Mar. 31, 2026.
Susan Erma Dashner, daughter of George Sr "Pete" and Dorothy "Smiling Dottie"Buerhaus, sister of Nancy Little, JoAnn Clark, George Buerhaus Jr, mother of Melissa Dwyer (Ned), Chad, and Christen (Lee Frank), grandmother of Shawn and Patrick Dwyer.

Reunited at last with her cherished husband, Charles Dashner Jr, Susan passed away peacefully and comfortably, surrounded with love in their paradise home in Ocean City, MD on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

To know her was to love her; young at heart and a surrogate mom to many, Susan brought endless joy to those who crossed her path.

From the numerous doctors and nurses she's encountered throughout her multi-decade battle with pulmonary sarcoidosis, to the employees of DQ who provided her beloved blizzards after each visit- she left everyone she met with a smile on their face.

As a youth, Sue won the citizenship award from her school, and her family believes she'd earn the lifetime achievement, applying those same values throughout the entirety of her life.

She loved her garden, the beach, sunshine, car rides with her health advocate, Lee, and her family above all else. Her grandsons were the absolute light of her life, and she would praise them endlessly to the world. She adored trash television, qvc shopping, audio books with skilled readers, mahjong, music, and hours long phone calls with her sister Nancy. Her pride was with her pride- the family she created, beach family, 1st Cavalry fam, and friendships maintained throughout her life.

She was the best of the best and we called her mom.
