Susan Penley Dial

September 18, 1945 – March 28, 2026

Susan Penley Dial, 80, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026. Born September 18, 1945, in Salisbury, NC, she was the daughter of Ralph Harkin Penley Jr. and Rowena Donkle Penley Jones. Her early years set the foundation for a life dedicated to love, family, and faith.

Susan cherished her long career in financial management with Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA). Following her retirement, she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, where she assisted in caring for her mother. Susan's tremendous faith in God was evident; she never missed a Sunday service and the reading of her Bible. Her unwavering love for her beloved son and grandchildren was constant.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Richard Dial (Joyce); grandchildren, Jake Joseph Dial, Lynleigh Dial, and Hayden Paul Dial; sister, Dixie Grey Penley; and nieces, Krystal Anne Pertsch (Todd) and Heather Pertsch Grindle (Merlin). The bonds she created with her family remain a testament to her legacy.

Susan joined the loving arms of God, reuniting with her mother, Rowena Donkle Penley Jones; her father, Ralph (Buck) Harkin Penley Jr.; her stepfather, Alvin (Gene) Jones; and her sister, Bonnie Penley Pertsch.

"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him." – 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

There will be a private service.
