Whitney & Murphy Funeral HomeSusie, age 73, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 14, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on April 18, 1952, in Dubuque, Iowa, Susie moved to Phoenix in 1974, where she built a beautiful life rooted in love, family, friends, faith and service.
Susie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from St. Louis University and spent over 30 years helping others heal through her profession. Known for her honesty and straightforward approach, Susie was both direct and deeply compassionate with her patients – offering not just physical healing, but encouragement, hope and genuine care. Her work reflected her tender heart, her encouraging spirit, and a deep compassion that overflowed from her love for Jesus.
Susie found joy in God’s creation – whether hiking Arizona trails with her hiking groups, exploring our nations national parks with her husband Bill, or gathering with friends for weekly Bible study. But nothing brought her greater joy than time with her beloved family and grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Mae Mae”.
She is survived by her loving husband Bill, daughter Audrey, and son-in-law John Sands, son-in-law Kyle Brown, and grandchildren Micah, Luke, Ava, Eli, and Abe. She was preceded in death by her first husband Dennis Thune, and daughter Aron Brown, both of whom she loved dearly.
Susie’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was an active part of her church family at Open Door Fellowship for over 47 years, where she shared the love of Jesus with joy and sincerity. Her life was a reflection of grace, perseverance, and unwavering faith.
A memorial service celebrating Susie’s life will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Living Streams Fellowship in Phoenix, Arizona.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations in honor of Susie may be made to Open Door Fellowship Church. Please note on memo Susie Folz.
