Susan Mischelle Grisham, the beloved daughter of the late Luther Preston Elders and Vernetta Redman, was born on August 30, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri. She spent her formative years in St. Louis, where she grew up and attended school.
While residing in St. Louis, Susan married and began her family. She was blessed with two children, Sheila and Bruce, who became the center of her life.
Susan was committed to furthering her education and achieved certification as a Certified Nurses' Assistant (CNA). Throughout her career, she worked in various hospitals, dedicating herself to caring for others.
In the late 1980s, Susan moved to Pulaski County, Missouri, where she would make her home for the remainder of her life. Known for her generous spirit, she served as a head start teacher and a foster parent for many years, impacting countless lives through her dedication and compassion.
On May 15, 1998, Susan was united in marriage to Hollis Wayne Grisham in Waynesville. Together, they shared more than 24 years before Hollis preceded her in death on September 25, 2022.
Susan enjoyed spending her free time working on crafting projects, watching Lifetime movies, and tending to her garden and plants. She was actively involved as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW post and the Shrine Club.
Having made a profession of faith, Susan began attending Idumea Baptist Church in Laquey, Missouri, shortly after moving to Pulaski County. In her more recent years, she was a devoted member of the Faith Baptist Church of Waynesville.
Susan entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in Imperial, Missouri, at the age of 69. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Bruce Preston Link of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Sable Sutherland (Miguel) of Imperial, MO, and Jade Sutherland of Laquey, MO; one great-grandchild, Riott Bagby of Laquey, MO; her brother, Warren Elders and his wife Cynthia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter: Sheila; and one brother: Dewayne Moore.
Though Susan is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held beginning at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with a service to follow at 6:30 p.m.
