On September 20, Susan Hambourger (a.k.a., Nama or Gigi) surrounded by her beloved family, passed on peacefully at her Glenview home at the age of 100.

Susan was loved by all who knew her as well as those who only knew of her. She lived a life centered on family and friendship, excelled in word games, Mah Jongg and asking for help with her computer. Her home was a place of welcome, and she had a smile and laugh that could light up a room.

She will be remembered for her warmth, patience and humility, qualities that touched everyone she met.

Susan is survived by her children Alan (Lynn) of Glenview, Judy (Joel) Sherr of Oak Park and David (Joy) of Glenview, ten grandchildren, twelve great-children, four grand-dogs and her caretakers/angels. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Warren, and her dear sister Ruth.

It is common for people to say they want to leave the world a better place. Ironically, Susan never said that. She just did it.

In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Northfield Township Food Pantry at www.northfieldtownship.com/food-pantry. For information and to leave condolences, please contact Shalom Memorial Funeral Home at www.shalommemorial.org or (847) 255-3520.
