Susan Lynn Harris, born on March 23, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025 at Homeview of Franklin. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Susan, who proudly carried the maiden name Dunnuck, lived a life full of adventure and love. She shared countless happy memories throughout her years, particularly enjoying fishing and camping trips with her family. As a devoted sports fan, she cheered passionately for her favorite teams, including the Colts and the Indiana Pacers. Her enthusiasm for NASCAR, especially her admiration for Tony Stewart, added to the vibrancy of her character. The simple joys of life greatly enriched her days, with cherished routines including watching her favorite soap operas, “The Young and the Restless” and “Judge Judy,” and savoring her beloved margaritas.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Melissa Wallace, David Parson (Amy), Cortney Rentfro, Mark Hawblitzel, and Amy Martin (Nate). In addition to her children,step sons James Harris, Charles Harris, Jr., Michael Harris, step daughter, Pamela Harris.Susan leaves behind a legacy of love embodied in her 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward her spirit.
Susan is survived by her brothers, Rick Dunnuck and Terry Pettit (Vickie), as well as her sister, Mary Tidd, and many nieces and nephews who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Susan was predeceased by her husband, Charlie Harris, whose memory remains an integral piece of her story. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Betty Dunnuck, and Marjorie and Donald Pettit, her son Rick Hawblitzel, granddaughter Taylor Jo Porter, her brothers Larry Dunnuck and Joe Mink, and sister, Debbie Wiseman all of whom she cherished deeply.
Visitation for Susan will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143. The graveside service will take place on the same day at Gosport Cemetery, State Road 67, Gosport, IN 47433 at 3:00 PM.
Her laughter, love, and spirit will be profoundly missed, yet her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
