Susan Michelle Ratliff-Haynes, born on June 6, 1969, in 
Bogalusa, Louisiana, was sent to her eternal home on September 15, 2025. Susan, affectionately known as "Suebaby" was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family,friends and many others whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived and for the profound impact she had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Susan is the beloved daughter of Dorothy Burns Ratliff and the late Jesse James Ratliff. Susan was introduced to God at an early age at the Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of her great grandfather, the late Rev. E.D. Burns. She was an honor graduate from Bogalusa High School where she established herself through activities and various achievements, For four years she showed spirit as a cheerleader, being named Captain in her junior and senior years. She was a member of the Lady Jacks track team and basketball team. She was a member of the Beta Club, 4H Club, and the Peer Pressure Group. She served as a President of the Junior Club, as vice-president of FBLA, and as a Key Club Sweetheart.
After high school she went to Southern University for two years. She began working for the State of Louisiana in both health care and social services. She was gainfully employed by Capital Bridge Health Services at the time of her death. During the years preceding her death, Evangelist Susan Haynes was very active in church, New Beginning Ministry under the leadership of Bishop A. Dausha Spikes. serving as Superintendent of the Sunday School. She was a part of the Ministerial Leadership Team, Women's Outreach Ministries, the Pastoral Care Team, and Youth Ministry Chairperson.
Susan is survived and missed by her loving mother, Dorothy Ratliff and mother-in-law, Myrtis Haynes; her devoted husband, Steven Haynes, Sr. and two beautiful daughter, Suzanne Marshelle Belton and Suzette Mechelle Belton and special daughter Samara Toney. She took an active role in the lives of her surviving grandchildren: De'Marquis Wilson II; Kayden Belton, Kaylee Belton, Marcus Mark, Markel Mark, Braxton Belton, Bentley Belton, Blaze Collins and Halo Collins. Her memory will be cherished by her caring sisters; Jessilyn Renee Alexander of Palmdale, California; Janice (Micheal) Dobson,and Lillian " Tina" (Richard) Elmgren, of Bogalusa; Jamie (Eugene) Jones of Lancaster, California and seven sisters-in laws and six brothers- in-laws on her husband's side. Her memory also lives on with her caring nieces and nephews: Tenethia Ratliff, Bryen (Nicole) Brown, Robyn Ratliff, Marzette (Tory) Hughes, Kevin Brown, Joshua Harry, Michael Dobson, Jr., Darius Dobson, Maritza Alexander, and Jacob Smith.
Susan was a member of the "Awesome Four," namely: Suebaby, the late Johnny Cook, Deidra Owens and Erin Graves. She also belonged to the "Flossy Posse" consisting of Suebaby,Phlesher Mingo, Tammy Peters, and LaShelda Spikes. Her membership in the Women Faith and International Woman Of Excellence also gave her joy.
Susan was predeceased by her father, Jesse James Ratliff, stepfather Lawrence Haynes, Jr. and her first granddaughter Talasia Wilson. She was also predeceased by her grandparents James Ratliff, Martena Ratliff, Lillian Sims and Edward Burns. Susan will be greatly missed by a host of other stepchildren, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
