Susan Marie Hecker

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Susan Marie Hecker, 71, of Las Cruces, passed away March 4th, 2023 with her husband Thomas by her side at Memorial Medical Hospital.
Susan was born May 14, 1951 to parents Edward and Hope Fields in Silver City, New Mexico. She has three brothers Rod, John and Tim.
They moved to Las Cruces where Susan grew up, graduating high school in 1969 from Las Cruces High School. She met her husband Tom in 1964 while walking down the street he lived on, they were married September 20 1969 and went on to celebrate 53 wonderful and happy years together.
She was a brilliant writer and spent many hours journaling which she one day hoped to turn into a book. She found humor even in the darkest times. After being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer for the second time she said she would like to write a book titled "I Am Dying, But So Are You." She was also an avid reader and a wonderful cook and baker. She had incredible patience and immense love for her grandchildren. Susan inspired her children to be loving, caring and patient people. To surround themselves with family and love them as much as Susan did.
She was empathetic and her soul was beautiful inside and out. She exuded love and emphatically taught that to her children and grandchildren. She carried a brightness with her that would shine long after she left a room.
Susan dedicated herself to her family, devoting her time, energy and love to her husband and children, she always said she just wanted to be with her family, nothing else mattered.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Hecker, and her two children Jennifer Hecker Prescott and her husband Roger and Karissa Head and her husband Brian and their children (Susan's two grandchildren) Jacob and Ardan.
The memorial service for Susan will be Friday March 10th at 9:30 am at the Getz Funeral Home at 1410 E Bowman Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88001.

Susan will be cremated and interment of her remains will be at a later date of Tom's choosing
