Susan was born October 6, 1962 in Marysville, KS, the daughter of Lyle and Marylyn Nelson Wenzl. She married Jim Hush on July 13, 1985, in Emporia, KS. He survives.
Susan grew up on a farm in Vermillion, KS, and graduated from Centralia High School in Centralia, KS. After high school she moved to Manhattan, KS, to pursue her education in computer programming at Manhattan Vocational and Technical School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jim. They were married in 1985. The Hush's moved to Quincy in 1990. After briefly working at Bigelow Insurance in Quincy, Susan began her 30 year career as a sales associate at Refreshment Services Pepsi. She loved to read and also enjoyed cross-stitch, crochet, and sewing. She even made the curtains in their home and reupholstered a chair! Susan enjoyed sports. She and her husband played on a local softball league in the Quincy/Ursa area. She also loved watching football and baseball. Her favorites were any and all Kansas teams including Kansas State University, the Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Susan also loved to bake. Her pecan pie was amazing; Thanksgiving will never be the same. Ever since graduating and moving away, her kids Jeremy and Shannon would visit with board games in hand. Playing games was a big part of their time together over holidays and other visits home. It is fun for the whole family, countless memories have been made around the game table in the basement.
Survivors in addition to her husband include: two children, Jeremy Hush of Ridgecrest, CA, and Shannon Hush of Lees Summit, MO; her parents, Lyle and Marylyn Wenzl; and two sisters, Sharon (Paul) Marquez of Independence, KS, and Cindy (Alan) Hamel of Northwood, NH.
Services: 1:00 pm Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating. There will be no burial.
Visitation: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
