Susan Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home on Dec. 23, 2025.
Susan Mae Jackson, 73, of Big Rapids, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025.

Susan was born on March 31, 1952, in Big Rapids, the daughter of William and LaVonne (Lee) Totten. She grew up on the family home farm and spent much of her early life traveling the pipeline with her father, mother, and sister, experiences that shaped her strong work ethic and adaptability.

In 1970, Susan married Rodney Bressler, and the couple lived in southern Michigan. In 1981, she returned to Big Rapids, where she later married James Jackson. Susan and James shared 34 years together in Big Rapids, building a life centered on family, hard work, and caring for others.

Susan had a deep love for working with people. She was employed at Walmart for 12 years before becoming a driver, helping transport patients to medical appointments. She also served as a caregiver to several individuals, a role she found especially meaningful, until her health declined and she retired.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffery Bressler, Daniel (Jennifer) Bressler, Michael (Norma)

Jackson, and Eric Jackson; grandchildren, Samantha Jo, Jonas, Kylee, Isabella, Breanna,

Lynndsay, and Rose; and sister Donna Churchill. Also people that have been there for her throughout her life, Betina Jackson, Sabrina Bressler, and Harold Teller.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, James Jackson; son, Benjamin Bressler; her parents; sister, Billie Jean Totten; and her brothers, Duane and Dewey Totten.

Susan will be remembered for her caring heart, dedication to her family, and willingness to help others whenever she could.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Susan's family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday until the time of service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Pine Plains Cemetery in the Spring of 2026.
