Susan Mallozzi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallingford Funeral Home - Wallingford on Feb. 4, 2026.
Susan Margarite Belleau Mallozzi of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Susan was born on April 19, 1935, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, and grew up as a proud member of the Garden River Ojibwe Tribe. At the age of 19, she made her way to Connecticut to accept a position as a nanny for a Stamford family. A few months later, one of her new friends arranged a blind date where she met the love of her life, a young man named Angelo Mallozzi. They married soon thereafter and made their home in Stamford, where they raised four children and spent more than 60 years together as part of the city's close-knit Italian community. For much of that time, they shared their three-family home with Angelo's parents, Tomasina and Eugenio Mallozzi, as well as Angelo's sister Alexandria, her husband John, and their children.

Angelo's parents had emigrated from Italy shortly after World War I and purchased the family home on Fairfield Avenue in Stamford. While Tomasina predeceased Eugenio in 1961, Eugenio lived on to enjoy his adult children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, passing peacefully in 2001 at the age of 106. The home Susan and Angelo created with their extended family was always filled with growing families, neighborhood children, and a steady stream of friends from sunup to sundown. Love, laughter, and activity were never in short supply. Although Susan spent her entire adult life in Connecticut, she always held a special place in her heart for Canada and for her extended Canadian family, who visited her as often as they were able over the years.

Susan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Angelo, and by her siblings, Elizabeth Bekintis, Cecelia Binda, and Earl Belleau. She is survived by her children, Carol McFarland, Danny Mallozzi (Anne), Lorraine James-Hough, and Eugene Mallozzi (Diana); by Ralph Bekintis (Areta); by 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

All Funeral Services will be in private, in the care of Wallingford Funeral Home 809 N. Main St., Wallingford, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Susan's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mom lived a life rooted in family, heritage, and devotion. From Garden River to Stamford, she carried quiet strength and deep pride in where she came from while building a remarkable life with Dad and raising all of us in a home filled with love and laughter.

As her son, I am endlessly grateful for the steady love. She created a place where generations gathered, where everyone felt welcome, and where family always came first. Her legacy lives on in all of us - in the way we care for one another and in the values she passed down so faithfully.

Rest in peace Mom!

She was always so sweet whenever I was in her presence. She was so lucky to have her daughter, Carol, take amazing care of her for the last several years. She was loved.

So many shared days and times. Susan was always a support and happy to share a cup of tea or coffee and "a little piece of cake." Will remember her with love and affection. Our sincere condolences. Betty & Tony
