Susan C. Miller (nee Cavanaugh), 67, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, passed away on October 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born to Thomas and Anne Cavanaugh (nee Keen) on October 15, 1957, in Darby, PA and raised in Upper Darby where she formed many lifelong friendships. She was an active resident of her community in Mount Laurel, NJ for the past 13 years, building lasting friendships with her neighbors and maintaining public garden areas throughout her neighborhood. Sue was a devout follower of the Lord and celebrating her faith through worship and music brought her boundless joy. She was very involved in every church where she was a member, most recently New Beginnings Church in Pennsauken, NJ.
Living the Word of God was a core part of her being and this helped fuel her generous spirit. She volunteered with many charities, worked with after school programs in both Camden and Mount Holly, and sponsored two children in need with whom she formed special bonds for many years through Compassion International. She was an incredibly loving mother to her two sons before returning to the workforce as a public-school teacher in Cherry Hill, NJ for 12 years where she led students with love and kindness.
Sue had an enthusiasm for life and was a consistent beacon of love and light to her friends and family with whom she enjoyed spending as much time with as possible. Sue enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, cooking, reading, traveling, playing the piano, song writing, needlepoint, and cross stitch but her greatest joy was found in being Nana to her grandchildren who she loved with unwavering devotion.
Beloved wife of 13 years to Peter Miller; devoted mother of Kevin (Cristin) Wittwer, Jeff (Jamie) Wittwer, and stepmother of Kyle (Kelsey) Miller and Mimi (Chris) Alescio; cherished grandmother of Eli, Juliette and Genevieve; dear sister of Kath Cavanaugh, Anne Cavanaugh, Terese (Ed) Schneider, Paul (Carole) Cavanaugh, Joe (Toni) Cavanaugh and Tom (Deb) Cavanaugh. Sue is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Anne Cavanaugh and survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Sue's visitation on Saturday, November 2, 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ, where the Memorial Ceremony will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place privately.

Sue and I shared a lot of laughs, silliness and friendship during her time at Johnson. She will sorely be missed by those who knew her. RIP Sue.

I had the privilege of knowing Sue for 35 years or more. We met in church and attended adult Sunday School together. Her faith and love of God was always part of her bubbly personality. Life changes, and in the last few years we got together knce a year to share plants and exchange gardening ideas as we both had a deep love of gardening and appreciation for the intricate differences God showed us through nature. I have Sue in my garden and will think of her gentle spirit when I am out there.
