Susan Kay Perry, age 78, of Marion, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at her home.
She was born on June 4, 1947 in Bonne Terre, MO, to Thomas Boyd and Dorothy Lee (Gallagher) Valle.
Susan was a graduate of Cape Central High School, Cape Girardeau, MO, and continued her education at Southeast Missouri State University.
She married Hobert Lee "Gus" Perry on December 31, 1966 in Rittman, OH and together they shared over thirty-two years of marriage until he preceded her in death on April 28, 1999.
Gus and Susan, along with their sons, moved a few times before settling in Southern Illinois. After moving to Marion, Susan spent many years working at the University Mall in Carbondale. She was an avid sports fan, never missing one of her son's sporting events. She also especially enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends in Cape Girardeau on the first Saturday of each month. Susan was of the Christian faith and loved to read, crochet, cross stitch, and play solitaire. But above all, she loved her family. She would do anything for her sons and worked tirelessly to make sure they had all they needed in life. The many wonderful memories created in this life will now be cherished by the loved ones she leaves behind.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Lisa) Perry of Maryville, IL and Jason (Cathy) Perry of Carterville, IL; grandchildren, Brianna (Cole) Landon, Emily Perry, Lilly Hoyt, and Elena Perry; great-grandchild, Kennedy Landon; brothers, Terry (Karen) Valle and Craig (Beverly) Valle, both of St. Louis, MO; sister, Benita Inman of San Jose, CA; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
